Course Description
Supervised placement in social service setting for 400 hours of social work practice. The placement experience is supervised by a BSW or MSW site supervisor who meets practice requirements and the practicum liaison. Practicum allows for students to experience the integration of theory and practice. Practicum allows for practice across all levels of social work practice including individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. Students will apply a global human rights framework to advance social, racial, economic, and environmental justice. Malpractice liability insurance required. State record check, FBI, and child abuse clearances required. Prerequisites: 24 credit hours of social work professional courses; C or higher in SOWK 403. Co-requisite: SOWK 401 and SOWK 431. SOWK majors only.
