Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies Minor

The program in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Millersville University incorporates new and current scholarship on women, gender, and sexuality into the university curriculum. In classes, in labs, and in archives, students explore how social, economic, legal, historical, and psychological forces shape individuals, communities, and societies.

As more career opportunities require credentials in diversity and inclusion, Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies provides a thoughtful choice as a minor for careers in medicine, business, teaching, education, sports management, social work, government, law, and other endeavors where equity, social sensitivity, and cultural knowledge are expected.

WGSS interdisciplinary scholars reach across divisions of historical, political, economic, legal, representational, technological, and scientific analysis; they offer students innovative methods and theories to expand the breadth of their studies as well as their everyday lives.

Students who enroll in WGSS classes find their background in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies to be not only a valuable resource for their professional development, but also for their lifelong intellectual and personal growth. Many students identify courses in the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program as among the most exciting and enlightening they take at Millersville.

Through their understanding of  complex, intersectional identities, WGSS minors have found themselves well prepared to pursue advanced degrees and training in the professions, to gain employment in community service agencies, to engage in artistic expression in the creative arts, and to assume leadership roles and positions in both business and law/government. Their increased sensitivity to diversity and inclusion makes them sought-after employees.
